You can help to create this foundation by talking, listening, and reading to your children every day and by showing them that you value, use, and enjoy reading in your lives. These are 20 ways to make your child a life long reader:

Read to your child every night

Take turns with other adults to read aloud.

Create a library of books in each child's bedroom.

Tell stories to your children.

Get your children to tell you stories.

Ask family members to recall stories of family incidents.

Share and discuss articles from newspapers and magazines.

Read road sign and billboard out loud.

Play 'I Spy' in the car.

Listen to audio tapes/cd in the car.

Read a recipe together as you cook.

Read the movie advertisements together.

Write shopping list together.

Organize a library or book store membership for each child.

Take advantage of book fair program and special event.

Encourage children to read the label of food packages.

Enter reading competition.

Encourage your child to make a scrapbook.

Have a policy on television, computer games etc.

As parents, the most important thing we can do is read to our children early and often. Reading is the path to success in school and life. When children learn to love books, they learn to love learning.

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">When it comes to education, art seems to be the subject that is forgotten and set aside. How will art help my child? You may ask. Aren’t there other subjects that are more important, that my child should be concentrating on rather than wasting time on painting drawing and making things?
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Of course all subjects are important and play a vital role in education and these should not be sacrificed for the sake of art. But the nature of art is that can be beneficial to all other subjects, and can work in harmony with them.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Before talking of the subject of art, it is important to point out firstly, when it comes to creating art, as Muslims we must adhere to what is acceptable and what is not, especially with what is on display. Indeed we have the Noble Qu’ran and the Sunnah as a guidance as to what type of images can be depicted, and this is the bases of the art. Therefore it is not so much art for “art’s sake”, rather art for the sake of education and benefiting our children and therefore, for the sake of Allah insha’Allah.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Tips for parents
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">When your child starts creating, it is not about the end product; rather the process of creating that end product that is important.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Ask questions about the picture/model, rather than just saying “oh that’s nice”.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Make positive comments, as negatives comments can be highly de motivating.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Pick out a few pieces of your child’s work for display; this will give the child a sense of achievement and satisfaction. Stick it on the fridge or frame it in a room or even upload as a desktop for the computer.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">If it’s a model, let it be a talking point.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Integrate art with curriculum at every opportunity, including Islamic studies. Art can be a wonderful way of teaching tawheed, learning about the masjid and the rich history of Islam.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Benefits of art
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Builds motor skills - learning to cut, paint and draw will help with your child’s motor skills in a way they can enjoy, without any pressure.

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Develops hand – eye coordination.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Builds on self esteem – creating something and showing mummy or daddy is a wonderful way of feeling valued for making a creation.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Self expression – Helps a child think for themselves, which benefits them in other subjects, e.g. in English, such as creating stories and poems.
<div class="MsoNormal" face="Arial" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Awareness – art can help your child to be more aware of their surroundings and to “look” at things in different ways. It also helps them focus on projects.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">Problem solving – teaches a child to be creative and find alternative solutions to problems.
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: justify;">A wonderful way to channel energy for energetic children.
The Little Caliphs Puncak Jalil would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school community. This is a transitional year for your child as he or she gains independence and embarks on an exciting, new adventure.

One of the keys to ensuring the best school experience possible for your child and yourself is great communication. We hope you’ll speak to us often about what your child is doing at home. To help build a relationship with your child, we welcome the opportunity to chat with you on a daily basis about what happened at school and what exciting things might be happening at home.

You may be wondering if there are activities you can do at home to help make your child’s transition successful.
Here are the few essentials that you and your child can practice at home:
•Read with your child everyday!
•Recite the Quran and daily du’a together.
•Acknowledge behaviour choices and consequences appropriately

Always remind them that they’re the Khalifah of Allah and as the Khalifah of Allah, they always:
• Make themselves good
• Make others become good
• Make the physical world good.

Thank you so much for your support to make this a happy environment for the children. We look forward to your involvement and participation in our programs throughout the year.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845051222528600269.post-8048152577286059372009-12-19T16:56:00.000-08:002009-12-19T18:31:15.999-08:00Little Caliphs In ActionKindly visit our Facebook for more pictures.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845051222528600269.post-18967180159368930192009-12-14T10:48:00.000-08:002009-12-14T10:52:16.986-08:002010 RegistrationKindly be informed that the school will be opened for 2010 registration on 25th, 26th December and 1st Jan 2010.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845051222528600269.post-87877457375735391452009-12-12T00:25:00.000-08:002009-12-19T16:50:12.938-08:00Principal's Note

Assalamualaikum wbt
